Centralize core system & media system

With db2web2 Your core business system can directly gain access from all your application database but also to your documents or images without any parallel systems and therefore without synchronism or real-time data problem. Next to an article code you can have a button to upload/download, view or edit any document relative to that article. db2web2 will store the document directly in the AS400 or in another server (like windows), that's up to you but the point is that you centralize the process with your core business system and this makes you gain in speed and reliability.

Rich graphical environment empowers the user to get more accurate information.

Within your browser, access and control medias, links, images and web services.
db2web2 generates PDF directly from the database, including images and logo.
The client generated by db2web2 is a "rich client" with many integrated functions to control data:
- In any grid you can sort by or shift columns. Export the grid to excel.
- Any field can be configured to be a dynamic comboBox, as the user enters letter a research is triggered on the database like a Google search.
You can set the user interface as a single screen with navigation menu or a Portal with several applications.
Easily you can add validation or total processes to any field, or transform a value to an image or symbol which becomes easier to read.

Technical overview

db2web2 is a web 2.0 applications generator based on 3 tier philosophy (db2, business logic, interface).

If you think that a query is a display process which can deal with a bunch of files at a time (the expression "bunch of files" refers to all the joined files a query can process), db2web2 allows the design of a "kinetic" of several bunch of files from which data can be displayed but also edited or updated.

Add the capacities of global/local keys, validation/result processes, virtual fields and you start to cover a normal application need.

For the validation/result processes, next to SQL functions, allow PHP script or RPG pgm and developers can quickly take control or re-use legacy routines (or overcome difficult SQL logic translation).

These are some of the features of the product.

To interface data, db2web2 offers different forms, grids or windows to bind the bunch of files within the designed kinetic.

Create different "kinetics" and automatically they will appear within a navigation menu and tab-panel.

This is for the structure, next to that db2web2 adds automatic controls for:

- fields with VALUES(): create a comboBox (with the possibility to set different labels) or create a checkBox (for boolean values) or radio-button (for 2 non-boolean values)
- foreign Key: possibility to create a dynamic SQL-comboBox (while the user inserts letters an ajax request performs an SQL research on different fields for matching records and show them into the comboBox)
- ComboBox with template: you can see more than a single line/style for each combo item.

There is also data integration with:

- Images/thumbnails visualization, comboBox design, fieldSet design...
- PDF, with overlay or blank page, the developer decides which fields data to see and where to set their position, size, style, occurrence etc...
- Excel, button "export to excel" within grids or extended possibility to export grid within specific excel having macro.
- GoogleMap, for address/GPS related data the developer decides which google-marker to see, which data/link to set within google-infoBubble etc..

Lastly, the cross-browser client interface used is very rich and tend to be "à l'avant-garde", it's the framework Ext JS.
